Matthew Broderick’s Ferris Bueller’s Day Off commercial.
I’m not the biggest sports fan in the world but I do really love the Super Bowl. It gives me something to flip to during breaks in the Puppy Bowl (which, trust me, we WILL be talking/livetweeting about), it’s a great excuse for morning beers, and it’s the only time I really watch commercials.
I’m sort of fascinated by Super Bowl commercials because they tend to combine big budgets, huge names, and lots of nostalgia — often with mixed results. We’re probably going to do a round-up after this weekend (because what else are we going to do next Monday morning when we’re hungover from celebrating/mourning our team’s win/loss? NOT stay in bed and blog about commercials?) but here’s a cool preview: The extended version of Honda’s “Matthew’s Day Off” commercial homage to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Fun Game: try to spot all of the references to the movie.
Less Fun Game: remind yourself that there was once a Ferris Bueller TV show.
